Title: Speed Date Quantistico

Date: 27 September 2024

Location: Complesso San Paolo, Via Camatta 16, Modena

Time: 20:00

As part of the European Researchers’ Night 2024 (Notte Europea della Ricerca), SMART-electron co-organised the interactive outreach event Speed Date Quantistico in collaboration with CNR Nano in Modena. Held in the historic Complesso San Paolo, the initiative offered the general public a unique opportunity to engage directly with quantum scientists in a lively, informal format.

Designed as a series of fast-paced one-on-one conversations, Speed Date Quantistico invited participants to sit down with researchers for 7-minute “quantum speed dates.” During each session, attendees could ask questions and explore complex scientific topics in a personal and approachable setting. Discussions covered a wide range of quantum-related themes, including quantum mechanics fundamentals, quantum computing, and emerging applications in advanced quantum materials.

The event was led by a team of researchers from CNR Nano and SMART-electron, including Vincenzo Grillo, Giovanni Bertoni, Claudia Cardoso.

Their expertise and enthusiasm created a dynamic environment that encouraged dialogue, curiosity, and public engagement with cutting-edge science.

Speed Date Quantistico attracted a steady flow of visitors throughout the evening, demonstrating strong interest in quantum technologies among the broader community. The format proved particularly effective in making complex topics accessible and in sparking meaningful conversations between scientists and citizens.

By participating in the European Researchers’ Night, SMART-electron contributed to promoting public understanding of quantum science and reinforcing the role of fundamental research in shaping future technologies.
